Enter the captivating world of reverse glass painting, an ancient art form with roots in the Byzantine Empire and celebrated in the timeless traditions of Italian and Spanish masterpieces. In this exclusive workshop, esteemed artist Lynn Leahy will introduce you to her highly specialized technique of paint layering—a method she has developed herself and is not taught anywhere else.
You will learn to trasfer your designs onto glass, explore new techniques, and complete one or two stunning back-painted glass bowls along with multiple glass tiles. Whether you bring your own original drawings or prefer to use designs from stencils or patterns, Lynn’s technique is versatile enough to suit a wide range of styles—from fruit and flowers to animals, people, geometric patterns- anything your heart desires.
Each step of the multi step reverse painting process will be demonstrated, allowing you to observe and practice as you develop your own pieces. Lynn offers personalized instruction throughout, ensuring a tailored experience for each student as they refine their craft.
As a special highlight, this workshop includes a private visit to the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art in Santa Fe. Curator Jana Gottshalk will guide our group through an exclusive viewing of the museum’s rare reverse painted glass collection, a treasure not available to the general public.
Don’t miss the opportunity to learn this rare and beautiful technique from a master artist who has brought new life to an ancient art form!
